Apian, who graduated from TheHill NHS Market Access Accelerator Programme in 2021, have announced a partnership with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in a first of it’s kind partnership to transport urgent blood samples across London by electronic drone this Autumn.
The partnership will improve patient care by speeding up turnaround times and reduce emissions by up to 99%. At the moment, transferring samples between Guy’s Hospital and the labs at St Thomas’ Hospital can take more than half an hour via van or motorbike couriers, but by drone these can be transported in less than two minutes.
Apian have had ongoing support from the Civil Aviation Authority and NATS to make this pilot scheme happen.
