Award win for Digital Innovation Ambassador

Emmanual Kesse (Nana), Clinical Practice Educator from Specialist Surgery Outpatient Services and Digital Innovation Ambassador of TheHill was named as the recipient of the Peter Baker Award at Radio Cherwell’s Annual General Meeting earlier this month.

The award recognises the work and dedication of volunteers at the hospital radio station radio station over the year, with Nana having made exceptional contributions both on and off air. He has been instrumental in ward visiting and training new volunteers up as part of the weekly children’s show, while also curating and setting up his own shows and podcasts for patients and staff across Oxford’s hospitals to listen to.

On receiving the award, Nana said: “Receiving the prestigious Peter Baker Award is a great honour. I joined Radio Cherwell out of my passion for music and curiosity to learn and I’m elated to do this to help improve on positive patient/family experience in our hospitals.”

Neil Stockton, Chairman of Radio Cherwell added: “The Peter Baker award is presented each year to a new member who has made a significant contribution to Radio Cherwell’s charitable aims. Nana’s contribution has easily met this criterion and has motivated other young members to be good broadcasters, also pointing them towards possible careers with the OUH trust.”

Danielle Bird, Operations Manager at TheHill, said: “Our Digital Innovation Ambassadors play a vital role in fostering a culture of digital innovation across the trust to improve outcomes for patients, and we’re especially proud when their impact extends beyond their day-to-day roles. Nana’s award at Radio Cherwell’s AGM is a testament to his dedication to improve the patient experience outside of his clinical duties; I am sure his contributions truly make a difference both within and beyond his professional responsibilities.”

TheHill’s Digital Innovation Ambassador programme is a community of OUH colleagues (clinical and non-clinical) who are interested in digital innovation and furthering the culture of digital leadership and adoption across OUH. Find out more about the programme here
