For 2021 TheHill Oxford is developing and facilitating a series of Meet the Clinician events: two-part workshops hosted in conjunction with Oxford AHSN.
The first workshop enables a panel of clinicians and patients to discuss challenges and innovation needs in a specific field, with an audience of developers and start-ups. Following this a group of start-ups are selected whose innovations best meet some of the needs identified; these companies then have the opportunity to present five minute pitches for their solutions to the panel.
The first set of these workshops took place on 26th January and 9th February 2021 and Abdul Gufar, Accelerator & Digital Innovation Programme Manager explains:
“For this first event we looked at Meet the clinician: Cancer, bringing together clinicians, patients and innovators. The first session focused on the clinician and patient perspective to talk on a broad range of topics including service delivery, how technology could help improve the pathway for patient care, cancer related costs and more. Following this the second workshop was innovator-led. The workshop allowed innovators the opportunity to showcase their innovation in context of the themes identified.”
Some key themes were identified in the first session; data management and access, communicating with patients including accessing test results, integrated care, personalised care and longer term support including cancer thrivership.
Four companies were invited to present to the panel of clinicians and patients alongside the Oxford AHSN team and TheHill: Cognitant, Panakeia, Isansys Lifecare and Fitfile.
Abdul continues: “The two workshops have been very useful and informative to patients, clinicians and innovators on how to bring about innovative solutions to improve the patient pathway. We would like to thank all of the participants and attendees. We are now working with the clinicians on how best to facilitate any discussions with the innovators.”
The next Meet the Clinician event is scheduled for Tuesday 18th May 2021 from 16.00-18.00h and the topic will be Innovations for Mental Health. Book your place here
