NHS Market Access Accelerator (MAA)

Our NHS Market Access Accelerator (MAA) is a 6-month accelerator programme, designed to provide digital health start-ups with a better understanding of how the NHS works, building a strong foundation for future growth.

As an accelerator embedded within the NHS at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), we are able to give startups access to unique and unparalleled insights into the processes, structures and systems that guide the adoption of innovative solutions across the NHS.

Participants can expect to learn about the different structures across the NHS and how decisions are made regarding the adoption of new technology within OUH. We work hand-in-hand with founders on our cohort to identify potential use cases, craft a compelling value proposition, and engage with relevant clinical and/or operational staff. Whilst on the programme, participants will also benefit from our pool of highly qualified and experienced mentors, who will work alongside them to guide their growth journey.

While on the six-month programme, you will receive:

  • Real-world guidance on navigating NHS structures, procurement and regulations from senior leaders at OUH.
  • Tailored support to refine your value proposition with clinical and operational input.
  • Expert mentorship from our pool of highly qualified mentors, who will work with you on a one-to-one basis to help achieve your desired outcomes.
  • Insights into scaling your solution effectively across the NHS and abroad.
  • Access to the world-leading teams at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Individual support and guidance on investment raising and grant writing.

Companies we have supported through the MAA have gone on to secure over £20million in investment, roll out their technology in NHS Trusts around the country, begin pilots and gain the knowledge to optimise their solutions, giving a broader scope of transferability and revenue generation.

“Our experience with TheHill’s Market Access Accelerator has been transformative for SurgeryAI.com. As the only accelerator embedded within an NHS trust, TheHill has connected us to key stakeholders at Oxford University Hospitals, allowing us to test and validate our solution in the most appropriate clinical setting. The programme’s support, from experts in regulatory compliance to the Trust’s CFO, has provided invaluable insights across critical areas. I highly recommend it to any startup aiming to innovate within the NHS.”

The unique position of TheHill within Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) has provided us with unprecedented access to key stakeholders and insights critical for navigating the healthcare landscape. Through engaging sessions with influential leaders such as OUH CFO Jason Dorsett and patent attorney Jessie Harrison, we’ve been able to advance our IP development and gain a deeper understanding of the regulatory National Health Service.
